Scope and content
Fonds consists of textual records, 1910-1977, in the following series: subject files, parliamentary files, personal and political files, newspaper clippings and scrapbook. Fonds also consists of photographs depicting a Russian Orthodox church; Grace MacInnis campaigning in Vancouver, B.C. and after her election to the House of Commons; and the unveiling of a portrait of James Shaver Woodsworth, Ottawa, Ont. Fonds also contains two caricatures entitled: "Upon what meat does this Caesar feed, that he has grown so great?" and "Move Over!", both by Arch Dale (1882-1962), cartoonist for the Winnipeg Free Press and the Grain Growers' Guide. Fonds also contains a map, 1975, of the Vancouver school system.

Biography / Administrative history
Grace Winona MacInnis, Member of Parliament, Member of the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia, born in 1905 at Winnipeg, Man., was educated at the University of Manitoba, The Sorbonne and Ottawa Normal School. After a brief teaching career, she became secretary to her father, J.S. Woodsworth, the founder and leader of the Cooperative Commonwealth Federation, (C.C.F.).
Mrs. MacInnis was a Member of the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia from 1941 to 1945. Having unsuccessfully run as a C.C.F. candidate to the House of Commons in 1949, she was elected as New Democratic Party M.P. for Vancouver-Kingsway in 1965, 1968 and 1972. During her Parliamentary career, she was a member of the Standing Committee on Health, Welfare and Social Affairs and the Special Committee on Food Prices. Until her retirement from politics in 1974, Mrs. MacInnis was Consumer Affairs critic for the N.D.P.
